Sensitive Personal Information
We collect the following categories of sensitive personal information: account log-in credentials in combination with the password that permits access to your account. We use and disclose sensitive personal information only for the purposes permitted by law and, where required, only with your consent. You may have the right to limit our use of this information as described in Section 8.
How We Collect Information
We collect personal information in the following ways:
- Directly from you, when you create an account, make a purchase, complete a form, or communicate with us.
- Automatically, through cookies, log files, and similar technologies when you use the Services (see Section 4).
- From third parties, such as service providers, partners, and data providers.
- From social login providers, when you choose to sign in using a third-party account.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use personal information for the following purposes:
- Generating, assembling and delivering the legal documents you order
- Creating and administering your account and storing your documents for later download
- Processing payments, issuing receipts and maintaining order records
- Arranging attorney review and consultations when you purchase an add-on
- Calling you about attorney review, consultation scheduling, or support requests when you provide a phone number and choose phone as your preferred way to be contacted
- Responding to support requests and communicating about your orders
- Securing the Services, preventing fraud and abuse, and debugging
- Meeting our legal, tax and recordkeeping obligations
We use personal information only for purposes compatible with those described here, or as otherwise permitted by law.
4. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We and our partners use cookies and similar technologies — including strictly necessary cookies and authentication cookies — to operate and secure the Services, keep you signed in, and remember your preferences. You can control cookies through your browser settings. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Where required by law, we treat the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal as a valid request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for that browser.
5. How We Disclose Your Information
We disclose personal information to the following categories of recipients: hosting and infrastructure providers, our database and file-storage provider, our payment processor, our email delivery provider, the AI service that assembles document text from your answers, and reviewing attorneys when you purchase an attorney add-on. When you purchase an attorney add-on and choose phone as your contact preference, we share the phone number you provide with the reviewing attorney or consultant so they can call you about your request. We require our service providers to protect personal information and to use it only to provide services to us.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under applicable state law.
We may also disclose personal information to comply with law, enforce our agreements, protect rights and safety, or in connection with a corporate transaction such as a merger or acquisition.
6. Data Retention
We retain each category of personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, according to the following general schedule, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law:
Account records: for as long as your account is open, plus 30 days. Generated documents and questionnaire answers: for as long as your account is open, so you can download them at any time. Order, invoice and tax records: seven years. Support messages: three years.
When information is no longer needed, we securely delete or irreversibly de-identify it.
7. How We Protect Your Information
We maintain administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encryption in transit, private document storage, row-level access controls that restrict each record to its owner, and role-based administrative access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your state of residence, you may have some or all of the following rights:
- Access — to know what personal information we hold about you.
- Deletion — to request deletion of your personal information.
- Correction — to correct inaccurate personal information.
- Portability — to obtain a copy of your information in a portable format.
- Limit the use and disclosure of your sensitive personal information.
- Non-discrimination — you will not be treated differently for exercising these rights.
- Appeal — to appeal a denial of your request.
How to exercise your rights. Submit a request through our contact page at siteclause.com/contact or by emailing support@siteclause.com. We will verify your request and respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. You may use an authorized agent where permitted.
Notice to California Residents
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended), California residents have the rights described above. In the preceding 12 months, we collected the categories of personal information listed in Section 2 and disclosed them to the categories of recipients listed in Section 5. We did not sell or share personal information. To exercise the "Shine the Light" right, contact us using the details in Section 13.
Notice to Residents of Other States
If you reside in a state with a comprehensive privacy law (such as Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, or similar), you have the rights described above, including the right to appeal a denied request. Where we process sensitive data, we obtain your consent as required by your state's law. You may opt out of targeted advertising, the sale of personal data, and certain profiling as provided by law.
9. Children's Privacy
The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. International Users
We are based in the United States, and the Services are operated there. If you access the Services from outside the United States, you understand your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where data-protection laws may differ from those in your country.
11. Additional Disclosures
Automated document assembly. The answers you enter in our questionnaires are sent to our AI service provider solely to assemble your document from our templates. They are not used to train that provider's models.
Email. Where you provide your email address, you consent to receive service messages about your account, orders and documents. Marketing email, if any, always includes an unsubscribe link.
Calls and texts. Where you provide your phone number, you consent to be contacted at that number about your orders, attorney review, consultation scheduling, and support requests. We make these calls only in connection with a request you have submitted — we do not use your phone number for marketing calls or texts, and we do not share it with marketers. You can tell us to stop calling or texting you at any time by contacting support@siteclause.com.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Policy on this page and, for material changes, emailing the address on your account and will update the effective date above. Your continued use of the Services after an update takes effect indicates your acknowledgment of the revised Policy.
